The CompTIA Federal and State Emerging Technologies Committee supports new and emerging technology platforms through impactful policies creating an advantageous policy environment that allows emerging technology platforms to mature at both the Federal and State level.

Committee Focus

Lobbying
At the federal and state level, CompTIA provides daily interaction with government officials, staffers, and the Administration to help provide a nurturing environment for emerging technologies. We send out regular emails requesting feedback when priority bills are introduced and hold calls when necessary.

Webinars
The Emerging Technologies Committee holds regular webinars on issues of key importance to the community.

Legislative Outreach
The Emerging Technologies Committee has held a series of ongoing briefings to the Congressional Technology Staff Association (CTSA) on key issues. The CTSA is an association of over 150 congressional staffers that have technology issues in their portfolio.

Emerging Tech Legislative Tracker
CompTIA tracks both the federal and state legislative and regulatory environment, providing the very latest on bills and regulations that impact emerging technology.

CompTIA will keep committee members updated on the very latest events that are relevant to industry.

  • CompTIA Testifies in Support of California After School Coding Grant Program

    On Wednesday, April 25th CompTIA testified before the California State Assembly Committee on Education in support of AB 2098 by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento). CompTIA and TechNet are co-sponsoring the measure which would establish a three-year pilot for a 21st Century After-School coding grant program within the After-School Education and Safety (ASES) framework.

  • Mission Economic Development Corporation Receives Grant for CompTIA Cybersecurity Training

    After a successful first year of the Mission Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) boot camp, the organization announced last week they are continuing their boot camps after receiving a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission. During a press conference held at the Mission Center for Education and Economic Development recently, the MEDC accepted a $496,120 grant to continue providing CompTIA cybersecurity training to Rio Grande Valley residents.

  • Day at the Arizona State Capitol Included Coding Event and Legislative Meetings

    Earlier this week, CompTIA hosted a "Preparing the Future Workforce though Computer Science Education and Coding" in Phoenix, Arizona. CompTIA in partnership with Apple held a two hour training/education session for legislators and staff to better understand the industry and need for computer science. A hands-on coding session was introduced to legislators and staff in a new, fun and interactive coding experience called "Everyone Can Code using Swift Playgrounds."
