Today’s IT channel continues to undergo a transition along with the rest of the industry, triggered by changes in the ways that customers buy IT goods and services, new types of competition and the forward march of themes such as cloud computing and mobility.
In terms of the attributes or skill sets that will be most critical to the channel going forward, cloud is at a premium. But likewise, half of respondents also consider the following areas paramount to future channel success: mobile application development ability, services sales skills, big data expertise, and social media use for marketing and customer/partner acquisition and communications.
The CompTIA 4th Annual State of the Channel study provides an overview of the size, shape and growth factors of the IT industry. It delves further into business transformation and covers topics such as sales and marketing practices and challenges.
This latest CompTIA annual study was conducted in two parts. Part one was an online survey of 350 executives at US IT companies. Part two was a series of in-depth interviews with IT channel executives. Data collection occurred during June 2014.
