In the fourth quarter alone, UK employers had more than 2.3 million total job postings, with 13 percent for IT jobs, according to CompTIA’s latest IT employment trends research. Over the past several years, job postings have trended down in the fourth quarter. The 290,000 core information technology job postings in the UK in 2017 Q4 are 15 percent lower than the number in Q3 but 14 percent higher than the same period in 2016. Across all of 2017, UK employers posted 1.3 million IT jobs, a 6 percent increase from 2016.
The IT employment research shows five IT jobs that appeared in the most postings:
- 1. Programmers and software development pros
- 2. IT business analysts, architects and systems designers
- 3. Web design and development pros
- 4. IT user support technicians
- 5. IT and telecommunications pros
And IT employment trends also show that these skills were including in the most job postings during the same period:
- 1. Software development principles
- 2. SQL
- 4. Web development
- 5. Microsoft development tools
