Core information technology job postings in the United Kingdom continued to decline in the third quarter of 2018, down 13 percent from the second quarter of 2018 and 36 percent from the third quarter of 2017. There were 2.1 million total job postings in the third quarter of 2018, with more than 200,000 being in IT.
UK unemployment also declined to 4.0 percent for the three-month period ending August 2018, from 4.2 percent in the previous three months. Between June and August 2018, 32.39 million people were employed, up by 289,000 from the same period in 2017, and 1.36 million unemployed people were looking for work. The size of the IT workforce in the United Kingdom is projected to grow by more than 15,000 jobs from 2017 to 2018, and it’s expected to grow by 4 percent between 2017 and 2022.
